Plaque to Cook at Statue Site, Waimea Town, Kaui, Hawaiian Islands, USA

Description:
Standing a few yards from the Cook Statue in the town.
On a memorial built of lava rock are two plaques, the top one illustrates Cook’s ships Resolution and Discovery, with a group of Hawai’ians looking on.  The other has the inscription (see below).

History:
This monument was dedicated on August 16th 1928, as part of the Cook Sesquicentennial.  The Kauai Historical Society formed a committee of prominent local citizens to undertake fundraising for the monument.
