Description:
In the form of a stone bolted onto a square rock. On this is a mounting stone, which was cracked in two in 2015, with the plaque.
History:
On 2.1.2015 the base was damaged and in need of repair, on 15th July 2015 it had been dislodged from its location during high surf conditions.
June 2016 it was missing, having been removed for restoration by the Hawai’I Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR).
It is planned that the plaque will be replaced during the summer of 2017 at low tide.

Heritage Listing:
The area around Kealakekua Bay was designated a State Historic Park in 1967. In 1973 the State Historic Park was added to the National Register of Historic Places.
