A souvenir sheet of 10 different stamps was issued to mark the London 2010 Festival of Stamps. The Post Office on South Georgia opened in December 1909, and each of the 65p stamps in the sheet represents one decade in its history.
One of the stamps depicts the South Georgia 1975 8p stamp featuring Resolution amongst icebergs. [See Cook’s Log, page 178, vol. 6, no. 1 (1983).]

Four stamps were issued to celebrate the paintings of William Hodges.

• 70p  “The Resolution in a stream of pack-ice”.  A painting by Hodges that can be seen at the Captain Cook Memorial Museum, Whitby.  [See Cook’s Log, page 17, vol. 30, no. 1 (2007)]
• 70p  “A View of the Monuments of Easter Island” (Rapanui).  A painting by Hodges held at the National Maritime Museum, Greenwich.
• 95p  “Captain James Cook”.  A painting by Hodges probably completed about 1775..  [See Cook’s Log, page 534, vol. 10, no. 3 (1987)]
• £1.15  “Possession Bay in the Island of South Georgia”.  An engraving by S. Smith based on a painting by Hodges.  [See page 47 in this issue and Cook’s Log, page 1715, vol. 23, no. 1 (2000)]

Many stamps have been issued over the years that have not been authorised by the postal administrations of the countries concerned.

Can anyone tell me if the following miniature sheets and souvenir sheets fall into this category or not? 

The Mali sheet shows Chipiona Lighthouse, which lies to the north of Cadiz, Spain.  What is its association with Cook?

The background of the Chad sheet is a painting by Herb Kane but reversed.  It is his painting of Cook’s arrival at Kealakeua Bay in January 1779.
