Endeavour Hills, a suburb in the City Of Berwick on the south-eastern fringe of Melbourne, was created on 28 October 1974 and named after Cook's ship the Endeavour.
The first post office was opened on 5 September 1983, but "RELIEF number 88" date stamp had to be used up to 16 December due to the delayed arrival of the proper postmarker.
The first day of use of this postmarker was on 19 December 1983 when 496 covers were postmarked. This is the only postal district in Australia with the word Endeavour.
