The Royal Mint issued the second of three £2 coins to commemorate the 250th anniversary of Cook’s voyages to the Pacific. The first coin was released in 2018 and the last will come out in 2020. Each of the coins designed by Gary Breeze depicts an event for that year. The 2019-dated coin is for Cook’s observation of the Transit of Venus. It shows the sails of Endeavour, a celestial image of Venus and the Sun, and the name Otaheite.
