Cook's Officers And Crew And Contemporaries

William Parker (Sir), Sheppey’s Admiral - Birthplace Query

In the recent article about William Parker it says "At the time of William's birth in 1742, Sheppey was an area of key significance".1 

That made me think he was born there.  However, on checking some internet sources, I see that he was reportedly "born on January 1, 1743 at Harburn, Warwickshire, England".2  

Can anyone tell me more about his birth?
