Thomas Dyke

Thomas Dyke sailed on Cook’s Second Voyage in Adventure under Captain Tobias Furneaux.  

Dyke joined from HMS Torbay on 4 June, 1772, as an able-bodied seaman (AB).  He became a master's mate on 30 July, 1772, and reverted to an AB again on 1 December, 1773.  

Dyke had joined HMS Torbay under Captain Samuel Wallis in November 1771.  Tobias Furneaux also sailed in the Torbay.  Dyke and several other men in Torbay followed Furneaux from that ship to Adventure. 

Dyke kept a log in Adventure.1  He never became a lieutenant so probably left the navy or died in the service before gaining promotion.
