John Smallpiece (the name also appears as Smallpice) sailed in Discovery during Cook’s Third
Voyage as an AB.  He joined the ship on 6 April, 1776.  However, there is no mention of him in the ship’s record.

Smallpiece was baptised on 25 March, 1750, at St. Paul’s, Deptford, the son of John and Margaret Smallpiece.  John Smallpiece senior was a shipwright at Deptford dockyard.  He married Margaret Francis on 24 July, 1740, at St. Paul’s, Deptford.  He was buried at Deptford on 9 February, 1755.  Margaret was buried at Deptford a few weeks later on 8 April, 1755.
