This privacy policy sets out how we use and protect any information that is given to us when a UK or EU citizen becomes a member of the Captain Cook Society.
By joining and maintaining your membership of the Society we assume that you have given your consent to the officers holding and recording your name, postal address, subscriptions and any other payments or donations that you may make. We also request your email address and telephone number as speedy and efficient methods of communication, but you do not have to give this information if you choose not to do so. However, a current email address is necessarily required for those members who subscribe at half-rate and receive our journal, Cook’s Log, only via email communication.
We will use the information you provide only to contact you with regard to the publications and activities of the Captain Cook Society, and in particular we will not sell or pass on any aspect of your data to a third party. Our mailing contractor is permitted to use your name and address only to circulate paper based material provided by the Society, or authorised by the Society.
UK and EU members subscribing to Endeavour Lines are assumed to consent to their name, postal and email addresses being held by officers of the Captain Cook Society – Australia for the purpose of receiving that publication.
Your data will be stored for the duration of your membership, and will be deleted from our records whenever you request it.
If you wish to raise any matter or complaint concerning use of your data please contact the Secretary or any other officer of the Society by post or by email.
Although not directly protected by these new regulations the basic principles of this privacy policy extend equally to members of the Society resident in all other countries outside the UK and the EU.
